Scandalous Limo Activities

Limousines are often used to transport the rich, famous and powerful, however, almost as often, those rich and powerful people are getting themselves into sticky' situations.

Many limousine hire companies have regular contracts with companies, businesses or government departments to provide all of their transport needs for all of their top people. Having a permanent contract means that the company or department does not have to worry about getting a limo at the last minute and they will also be able to build up a relationship with a regular chauffeur who will be able to better serve their needs each time they travel.

The Homeland Security Department in Washington had such a contract with a limo hire company called Shirlington Limousine. In early October, the department notified Shirlington Limousine that it intended to exercise its option to extend the contract for transporting the department employees around Washington.

This contract between the department and Shirlington Limousine was worth US$21 million with annual options for five years.

However, Shirlington is currently part of a federal investigation into whether a defence contractor provided disgraced former Rep. Randy Cunningham of California with prostitutes in the limos they hired. Cunningham is also in jail at the moment for taking bribes from defence contractors.

A House Homeland Security subcommittee has held a hearing into how Shirlington Limousine was able to secure two Homeland Security contracts with this type of record and history.

There are many things which can be hidden in the back of a limousine, this is why you need to make sure you carefully check out the limo hire company you are considering hiring from to make sure their reputation recommends them for your type of event.
